i think mainly it has to do with the fact that the show set it up in such a way that you either shipped laurel with oliver or nothing and obviously felicity, at this point, wasn’t being presented as a viable love interest but rather someone that the audience can relate to, i.e ‘the girl obsessed with the hero’ and i think felicity is generally much more than that both personality and plot-wise. and that’s why, at the end of the season, where oliver chose laurel and broke tommy’s heart i felt really cheated because i didn’t really care for them and i wish i did because i think aesthetically, they’re cute.
